De International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) organiseert dit jaar voor het eerst de World Green City Awards. Met de wereldwijde wedstrijd, onderverdeeld in zes categorieën, wil de AIPH diegenen belonen die innovatie, prestatie en inzet tonen door met nature-based oplossingen stedelijke uitdagingen aan te gaan. Onlangs onthulde de organisatie de jury.
Met de World Green City Awards nodigt de AIPH alle steden vergroeningsplannen en stadsnatuurinitiatieven in het voetlicht te zetten die bijvoorbeeld een bijzondere impact hebben, succesvol zijn toegepast en de potentie hebben opgeschaald of naar andere steden uitgebreid te worden.
Categorieën en jury
De World Green City Awards 2022 zijn onderverdeeld in zes categorieën: Biodiversiteit, Klimaatverandering, Gezondheid en welzijn, Water, Sociale cohesie en Economisch herstel en inclusieve groei.
Onlangs onthulde AIPH wie de ingestuurde projecten gaan beoordelen en een shortlist zullen samenstellen. Dat zijn:
